Home Start East Sussex works one-to-one and in groups to support, encourage and develop the increased safety, confidence and independence of local families who have experienced adversity.

Natwest supports domestic abuse survivors in partnership with SafeLives

In 2021, a partnership between SafeLives and Natwest was set up to provide financial support to victims of abuse, and to help survivors move forward and promote recovery and resilience. An employee from the Pensions Regulator joins the HSES' Board of trustees as a Boardroom Apprentice. She brings with her a confidence in reading and explaining charity accounts and other financial information but does not have trustee or governance experience.

One of our Lotus domestic abuse recovery group sessions examines sexual abuse. We come together to identify examples and talk about experiences.

Just because we might be in a relationship with someone, we do not “owe” them sex, or have to engage in any sexual behaviour with them. Many of our clients tell us that their abuser used sexual behaviour to control them, to make them feel guilty or ashamed, and to exert power over them.
